Wired on Words & Music presents a spoken word concert ranging from Senegal, Africa to the mountains of Banff, Alberta.and back to Montreal.
This
concert was especially conceived for the Suoni
per il Popolo Festival.
From the African Griot tradition comes Sadio Sissokho, griot of Senegal, bringing
us the heart of spoken and sung word, accompanied by top musicians and guests
on kora, kalimba, djembe and guitar.
This set contrasts with the contemporary, melodic trance music of Pharmakon-a
5 piece ensemble featuring Ian Ferrier on voice and verse, with special guest,
Alberta spoken word star Moe Clark on verse and sung vocals.
Moe is fresh from the Calgary launch of her new CD, the entrancing Circle
of She. Her improv work in collaboration with Pharmakon started
during a historic spoken word workshop in the mountains of Banff, Alberta
this April. This concert is its world premiere.
